The Detroit Area Marines Good Friends are going to be participating in a few events this year. We are proud to announce that this year we will be teaming with the Historic Fort Wayne for the 2nd annual run. We will be keeping the 5k but also adding the option of running a 10k, or the ability to throw on your heaviest pack and Ruck the course like your hard core Marines. Register for this event on and search DAM 5K. Our focus of all events is to raise money for the Marines within the local area, Active or Reserve. The biggest event that we support is the annual United States Marine Corps Birthday Ball. All the events will be posted to our page and we hope that you will come join us in supporting our local military.

2015 2nd Annual DAM 5K/10K

The Detroit Area Marines (DAM) and The Historic Fort Wayne are teaming up this year to bring an event that you will not want to miss. As your run, walk, or Ruck you will enjoy the sites and sounds dating back to the Civil War.

The race will begin in the center of the Fort where you will be surrounded by barracks and walls where many troops were trained in preparation for a possible attack from the French invasion from Canada. You will know the race has begun because instead of the usual horn we are used too, a cannon dating back to the Civil War era will be utilized. You will run out of the Fort through a tunnel and travel the roads going by the old movie theater, housing, ammo points and many other sites. The race will end back inside the safety of the Forts walls where all runners, walkers, and those that Ruck will receive a one of a kind DAM finisher medal.

Come run with the Marines! The DAM 5K/10K is a community fitness event open to participants of all ages and abilities.  The scenic 5K/10K course is a combination of paved path and off-road trails. Ample parking and restroom facilities are available. Chip timing will be provided.

The Cannon will go off at 0800 hours on August 8th,2015 for the 10K runners, and again at 0815 hours for the 5K runners.
